I work at £25 per hour and most of the examples you see on this site were created within 1 or 2 hours.
The process varies from job to job, but like most digital illustrators, I put an image together in one of two ways:
From a Photo; I start by photographing the item then, using the photograph as a template, recreate the photo as a vector file.
Freehand; This starts life on old fashioned pencil and paper, then the drawing is scanned and again recreated as a vector illustration.
The finished illustration can then be delivered via email (in ai, eps, or PDF format) or be printed and sent via post.
