Indian Advertising Art
I've been interested in Indian advertising / street art since seeing it on our tour of the country in 2001, and have been wanting to try to imitate that style since then.
I loved the very distinct style they had and the slightly naive way they treated perspective. I was fascinated to see that even big names such as Mercedes adverts were hand painted rather than the high tech bill boards we've become accustomed to.
To the left are some of the books I've used for inspiration (along with the photos I'd taken during our holiday).
I'm painting with acrylics onto solid wood or plywood (so far and hopefully permanantly reclaimed wood) and will then be weatherproofing them with a waterproof varnish so they will be suitable for outdoor use.
Below is a slideshow taken from my Flickr page where I'll be posting new work as and when I do it.
