Charney Manor
Performing as the group Alap we provide the perfect backing to your wedding or social function.
We offer a traditional combination of 3 instruments which are:
Sitar; the most well known Indian classical instrument.
Tabla; small Indian hand drums.
Tampura; similar in size and shape to a Sitar but with only 4 strings. This instrument provides the traditional 'drone' of Indian classical music.

Each package we offer provides Sitar, Tabla & Tampura in a combination of pre-recorded/ electronic or played live by a musician. So, you can choose as many musicians as you wish to suit your budget.

This service is priced and structured in the following way:

Package 1 - £150: Sitar with Recorded Tabla Backing & Electronic Tampura (1 musician)

Package 2 - £300: Sitar, Live Tabla and Electronic Tampura (2 musicians)

Package 3 - £400: Sitar, Live Tabla and Live Acoustic Tampura (A full 3 piece group)

Examples of all of these combinations of instruments can be heard on our Sounds page.

These prices include travel expenses within the Midlands area and a performance time of 2 hours maximum and 30-45 minutes set-up time.

We supply our own PA system (either 150 or 300 Watt depending on room size), mixing desk and microphones when required. Supply of this equipment is included in the price.

All electrical equipment is PAT Tested. We are also covered by Public Liability Insurance to the value of £1,000,000 (copies of these certificates are available on request).

We always wear traditional Indian clothing and bring our own floor coverings and cushions. All we require is some space and to be situated within reasonable distance of a mains electricity socket.
